The XC60 is earning its way to success thanks to great popularity and a unique Scandinavian flair that drivers across the globe love. Canadians are taking notice and investing into the vehicle's year-round capabilities, advanced systems, comfort, and luxurious features. Now, Volvo makes it easier to own an XC60, with a limited-time $1,500 rebate.
More about the XC60 is revealed when the vehicle is compared to the competitors in the segment. Here, we reveal three reasons to buy an XC60 over the Mercedes-Benz GLC.
The 2021 Volvo XC60 demonstrates power with better efficiency
The XC60 offers three powertrains that balance impressive power with show-stealing efficiency. The T5 powertrain featured in the Momentum trim produces 250 horsepower through a 2.0-litre turbo platform. Even though the GLC 300 has nearly the same power, this XC60 Momentum is more efficient at 11.1/8.3 L/100 km (city/highway).
The XC60's most offered powertrain is the T6, which produces 316 horsepower. The series also offers the T8-powered XC60 model which generates 400 horsepower and an impressive 472 lb-ft of torque (415 horsepower in the Polestar Engineered model). Most of all, its fuel consumption rating is just 9.5/8.7 L/100 km. No other GLC model—even the GLC 300e hybrid—comes close.
Mercedes-Benz moves remaining GLC models to its AMG lineup. The AMG GLC 43 has fewer horsepower than the XC60 T8, and it uses fuel at a much higher rate of 13.1/9.6 L/100 km. Although the AMG GLC 63 S is the horsepower winner, you'll have to navigate the comparison's steepest MSRP and shameful fuel consumption at 15.0/10.9 L/100 km.
The 2021 Volvo XC60 offers more room in the right places
The XC60 passes the comfort test with more front headroom, legroom, and shoulder room than the GLC. Rear seat passengers also enjoy more rear leg room in the XC60. When you need to convert the Volvo to maximize cargo room, it opens up to 1,792 litres of cargo volume, which is 200 more than the GLC.
The 2021 Volvo XC60 offers a bolder design, and more advanced technologies
Discerning tastes will love the XC60’s unique design cues and Scandinavian style inside and out. But these lines, materials and textures bring more than just looks, they also work alongside some of the most advanced technologies out there like the semi-autonomous Pilot Assist system and the intuitive Sensus infotainment system.
