The Volvo XC60 has everything you need in terms of performance, comfort and style in a distinguished package that exhibits a unique Scandinavian look no other rival in the segment can match. The XC60 is also very practical, with plenty of space for cargo and the amenities that will please your passengers.
Here, we explore three great reasons why you should buy a 2021 Volvo XC60 instead of a 2022 Lexus NX.
The 2021 XC60 offers you more space and capabilities
Space and versatility are two important factors in a luxury SUV. And the Volvo XC60 offers plenty of it. When the second row is full of passengers, you can use close to 600 litres of cargo space. The Lexus NX only offers a little more than 500 litres, and even less in its hybrid variants. The XC60 also delivers more towing capacity, with 3,500 lb.
The 2021 XC60 focusses on performance
The XC60 delivers plenty of performance options under the hood. The base powertrain is the T5, which is a 2.0 L turbo four-cylinder that delivers 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, while the T6 powertrain gives the XC60 an impressive 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
The XC60 also has a hybrid powertrain that delivers maximum performance while offering incredible efficiency. This T8 powertrain boasts 400 horsepower, but it can deliver as much as 415 horsepower if you choose the Polestar Engineered variant.
Under the hood of the 2022 Lexus NX, you will find a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre engine that delivers 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, which is less than the XC60’s base engine output. The second all-gas option on the NX 350 is a 2.4 L Turbo, which delivers much less power than the T6 engine with only 275 horsepower.
The NX also has hybrid engines which deliver 239 hp and 302 hp with the plug-in hybrid. The T6 engine and the T8 powertrains found in the XC60 provide much more power and they are paired with a sportier 8-Speed transmission instead of a CVT.
The 2021 XC60 delivers maximum style and refinement
While the Lexus NX is pretty much a Toyota SUV with a few extra options, the XC60 presents itself with unique styling features inspired by Scandinavian design, which uses superior textures and materials that can only be found in a Volvo. The XC60 also offers more advanced infotainment and driver assistance features.
