The 2025 Volvo EX90 has secured a position on the prestigious Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX award list, standing out among more than 30 evaluated vehicles. The fully electric three-row SUV impressed judges with its combination of premium design elements, intuitive technology integration, and sustainable material choices.
Award-Winning Recognition
According to Christie Schweinsberg, program manager and judge for Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX, the Volvo EX90 met all their evaluation criteria. "The Volvo EX90 checks all the boxes that we look for in a winning interior: lovely design aesthetics, interesting or unique trim, high levels of comfort, plenty of space for passengers and cargo, and well-performing technologies providing for a great user experience," Schweinsberg noted.
Scandinavian Design Philosophy
The interior design draws from traditional Scandinavian living spaces, featuring clean lines and a minimalist approach that emphasizes functionality without sacrificing refinement. Judges specifically highlighted the EX90's commitment to sustainability through the use of bio-attributed materials, particularly Nordico, the manufacturer's leather alternative.
Intuitive Technology Integration
Central to the vehicle's user experience is a large center display with Google built-in, providing access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and additional apps on Google Play. The system is complemented by a dedicated driver display and head-up display that show essential information while allowing drivers to maintain focus on the road.
Adaptive Interface Design
The EX90's infotainment system incorporates a contextual bar on the center display that adapts based on driving conditions. This feature considers factors such as the current gear selection or vehicle speed to provide relevant settings or camera views appropriate for the situation.
Premium Cabin Atmosphere
Atmosphere in the cabin is enhanced through thoughtful lighting design, including backlit wood decor with LED illumination that simulates natural sunlight. A tinted panoramic roof allows natural light to enter the space while preventing glare. For audio enthusiasts, the top-tier Bowers & Wilkins sound system features 25 speakers and supports Dolby Atmos for immersive sound reproduction.
Versatile Interior Configuration
The interior offers practical flexibility with both six and seven-passenger configurations available. Storage space hasn't been compromised despite the three-row layout, with the EX90 providing a substantial cargo area behind the third row, complemented by additional under-floor storage. When more cargo capacity is needed, all rear seats fold flat, and the third row can be adjusted via power controls.
Industry Recognition
Volvo will receive formal recognition for the EX90's interior at the 2025 Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX awards ceremony scheduled for June 5 during the AutoTech 2025 Conference in Novi, Michigan.
